Andrew Prescott's talk to the 2006 Public History Conference included a sad tale concerning the appearance of David Stevenson, 'eminent Scottish historian', before the members of QC Research Lodge.
He was the first non-Mason to be so invited in approx 120 years.
His address was on his research into Scottish Masonic history.
Prescott says the paper was every poorly received and that the response by QC showed 'an unwillingness by (its) members to engage with primary evidence', a criticism which is pretty damning.
