Freemasonry has been defined as "a peculiar system of morality, veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols," and on closer inspection we find that this allegory veils itself, and this symbolism finds expression in a dignified and beautiful ceremonial which is chiefly based upon the circumstances attending the erection of King Solomon's Temple.
The Temple is, therefore, naturally a prominent idea in the mind of every Mason.
