My purpose is to throw some new light on this subject. In Shakespeare, King Lear says, " I do beseech you, understand my purposes aright."
As far as things are concerned, the purpose is the end or aim at which the purpose is directed. Purpose is the view or the aim, the design or the intention.
So we are considering the design or purpose of Freemasonry.
