We are all familiar with the working tools of the three degrees, their operative uses and their symbolical meaning which was explained to each one of us as te made progress in the Masonic art.
We have all seen the presentation of these same tools, to the newly installed Master,
who is reminded that he is already acquainted with their Operative uses, but how many of us really could use them in a practical manner as did our Antient Operative Masons?
And as the better the speculative Mason is acquainted with the speculative uses of these tools, and the achievements obtained with their aid by our operative brethren, the better able he will be to appreciate their de moral teachings.
It is these I want to bring before your notice this evening: Who they were, where
did they originate, what were their achievements, and what legacy they have left us.
