THOUGHTS FOR THE ENQUIRING MASON - September 2014.
Sir Francis Bacon (1561-1626) is remembered today as the founder of inductive reasoning and modern experimental research.
In his own time he became a leading influential thinker, who believed that the current state of knowledge in general to be deplorable. He called for an advancement of learning through the establishment of schools of universal wisdom for the study of nature and science via analysis, methodology and experimentation – thereby providing the blueprint for the future English Royal Society.
