To set the scene for this paper “The Grand Lodge of Western Australian Freemasons 1904-1910 The Formative Years”, one must appreciate that Freemasonry in Western Australia was present in the form of Freemasons as early as 1829 when Governor Stirling and a number of early settlers, some of whom had been Freemasons in Britain, brought the Craft to the new settlement.
