The Waikato Lodge of Research - No. 445.

INSTALLATION MEETING - 16th MARCH 1982 THE WAIKATO LODGE OF RESEARCH

At the Dedication and Constitution of The Waikato Lodge of Research No.445, our foundation Master, W. Bro. P. Verrall stated and I quote `we are taking the first step on a long journey of Service to Freemasonry’. Since the 30th August 1980 our numbers have increased We have been joined by masons interested in grouping together with one common interest in mind, " Masonic Research." Our delving into reference books and other sources of Masonic knowledge could be termed as our search into the history of Freemasonry.

A design for the foundation jewel was approved by the Committee and subsequently by the Executive Committee with ratification by the Board of General Purposes on 20 August 1980.

The design comprises a carved Meeting House front with the lettering 'Whare Wananga, ie a House of Knowledge` and enclosing an open VSL with S and Cs. The blue background was surmounted with gold lettering.
