When I put down as the title for my subject tonight, " Some Masonic Reflections," I felt that I had left myself a free hand to traverse whatever ground I thought applicable to the occasion.
And as I find to-night, very greatly to my delight, that there is such a splendid attendance, and members of so many Lodges represented,
I propose to speak in general terms of what one might call " Fact and Fiction in Masonry."
One feels that in the Lodge of Research one can speak more freely, and with a greater candour than one can perhaps in other Masonic gatherings ; because the very fact that you are gathered together here, either as members of the Lodge of Research, or as visitors to the Lodge, is in itself evidence that you are more than ordinarily interested in the problems of Masonry.
