It seems to me that, for those who recognise the true Masonic idea to be spiritual and that a consciousness of this fact is essential to the realisation of the real purpose of Freemasonry, there can be only one answer to this question—a Spiritual basis—which finds expression in the Masonic doctrine of the Sovereignty of God, the brotherhood of man and the Immortality of the Soul, implicating the Unity of the Human Race by Creation and in Redemption.
