I have had requests from Brethren who hoped to be here, to extend my lecture a little, and talk about the condition of things, in general, in India, as well as of Freemasonry.
As Masons we are interested in the welfare of the human race, and actually one-fifth of the whole human race are our fellow subjects in the Empire of India.
India has more people than Europe, more races than Europe, and more languages, and while in Europe men generally regard themselves as belonging to one great branch of religion, i.e., Christianity, it is not so in India, for she has many, many religions, all of which excite among their adherents extraordinary enthusiasm and sometimes a great deal of bigotry.
