This is an overview only of the building of the early cathedrals that are dotted around Europe and the United Kingdom.
It is dedicated to the craftsmen and women who used their combined skills to produce these magnificent structures over varying periods of time – some as short as 50 years with other stretching out over several centuries.
It does not attempt to marry up the stories of the early Speculative Masonic playwrights who wrote the five Masonic one act plays for the:

2. 2nd Degree
3. 3rd Degree
4. Board of Installed Masters
5. The Installation of a Master
As we progress through this presentation, there will be obvious correlations between reality, and the fantasies of these playwrights who let their imaginations run riot and have successfully confused and enthralled Speculative Freemasons since at least 1717.
