Four hundred and eighty years after the departure of the children of Israel from Egypt, four years after ascending the throne, in the month Jur, which is the second month, Solomon began " to build the house of the Lord at Jerusalem, in Mount Moriah, where the Lord appeared unto David, his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshing floor of Ornan (Araunah), the Jebusite."
Hiram, sometimes spelt Huram, King of Tyre, who "was ever a lover of David," when he heard that Solomon had succeeded to the throne, sent ambassadors to him and saluted him with hearty good wishes for a happy and prosperous reign.
