The majority of the brethren may think that the question inferred in the title of this paper, "The Duty of a Freemason," is sufficiently answered in the charge after initiation.
There we find the duty of a Freemason classed under three headings, with very definite instructions as to the various duties in each direction.
Therein we are taught that we owe our duty to God, to our neighbour, and to ourselves, and each of these subjects is worthy of a great deal more thought and attention than I am capable of giving, but I should just like to touch on a few of the essential points connected with them, and in some small measure to direct your attention to some cardinal facts in reference to our Freemasonry to-day, which I am afraid we are in the habit of neglecting.
