We are informed by some authorities that Masonry has been in existence and practised from time immemorial, but I am inclined to go back only so far as between 1620 and 1640, at which time it was known as Rosicrucianism, and imported into England from Germany.
To a regulated mind, first impressions of Masonry cannot help stirring thoughts of religion, even to prompting debate, which, in so far as lodges or assemblages are concerned is forbidden, perhaps rightly so, at the present stage of enlightenment of the human mind.
