‘If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. . .’ Joseph Goebbels
‘Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction.’ Blaise Pascal, Pensées
Why would I want to write about this subject? Anti-Masonic sentiment seems to be out of proportion to what must be considered the importance of Freemasonry in our society today.
I want to share with you some thoughts on this subject.
The words in the title beg that an explanation of the meaning of them be explored. When I googled ‘Religious Extremism and Freemasonry’, the result showed 18,700 web pages.
If you Google ‘Anti Masonry’ you get between 151,000 and 197,000 hits, if you Google ‘Pro Freemasonry’ you get 222,000 hits, but when you look at these sites many of these pro- Masonry pages are in fact anti-Masonic too.
It would also appear to depend on factors unknown that these numbers change at different times.
