Abstract: Referring to the Retrospect of the Third Degree (UGLV), this paper briefly outlines the Masonic approach to individual development, past influences on this approach and the contribution Freemasonry can make to an ever-changing world.
It is argued that the lack of community awareness and acceptance of the Craft is partly due to an inadequate conceptual understanding of Freemasonry by its membership in general, which has resulted in the failure of the Craft to remain socially and culturally relevant.
