As the title suggests, this lecture concerns pillars, particularly such as are thought of as supporting the structure of Freemasonry.
The importance of the pillars Wisdom, Strength and Beauty, can be judged by their positions in the Lodge—Wisdom, supporting the Master, Strength the Senior Warden, and Beauty the Junior Warden. References to these three abound in the ritual.
For example, in the Installation ceremony, Freemasonry is said to diffuse the light of wisdom, aid the strength of reason, and dispense the beauties of virtue.
