It was with both scruple and diffidence that I accepted the invitation extended to me to deliver the address to you to-night. I am a Master Mason only, holding no office in my Lodge.
I do not profess any profound knowledge of the craft nor of the ritual, but I have a deep curiosity to find out the meaning of our observances and to understand the underlying truths hidden in the ritual and the signs and symbols of the craft.
