The term “Invisible College” was the name given to a group of natural philosophers who began meeting in Gresham College (in London) in 1646 to discuss “physico-mathematical experimental learning”.
The Group included a number of key figures in London and they sought to establish a foundation with royal patronage, which they achieved in 1660 with the support of the new king, Charles II.
