Barron Barnett Lodge of Research No 146.
Barron Barnett Lodge of Research No.146 UGLQ, was consecrated on 15th August 1903, and granted a Warrant (No.3011) under the UGLE. It was consecrated by the District Grand Master R. W. Bro. Gregory of the District Grand Lodge of Queensland, English Constitution. District Deputy Grand Master R. W. Bro. Barron Barnett not only participated in the consecration but also became the Foundation Master and eponymous namesake of the Lodge. It was the first established and only remaining, warranted research lodge of the United Grand Lodge of Queensland. During 1903 the Lodge of Installed Masters as envisaged by Barnett more than a decade before was consecrated on 15th August, 1903
The third of the large portraits of notable Queensland Freemasons that hang in Ann Street Masonic Memorial Centre and number 19 in the series of unique ‘treasures’ is that of RW Bro Barron Lewis Barnett., Deputy District Grand Master (EC) from 1882 to 1905. Member Lodges and District Grand Lodge subscribed an amount of 100 guineas for the memorial portrait to be commissioned from Bro Oscar Fristrom.
THE CLOCK.
Made in the 1890s, the clock was originally used in the Alice Street Temple, which was the Masonic meeting place until 1930. The wooden housing was carved from a single tree trunk of northern silky oak.
